Andy and Sharon Greenberg, who
have been studying and practicing
Zen meditation and Buddhism for
the past 10 years, and are currently
studying with Paul Genki Kahn
mentor the group. They are
committed to a strong home
practice for themselves and their
two sons. The Youth Group is an
opportunity for Andy and Sharon to
share their engaged,
family-oriented practice with young
adults.

Family and Youth Zazen
Kodo Greenberg will lead a Family and youth Zen night.own needs. We’
d also like help from the teens in mentoring younger own needs. We’d
also like help from the teens in mentoring younger folks. We are not
setting a minimum age, as any exposure to the practice is a good thing.
That said, the minimum age that a child can sit still for at least one
minute is probably age 4, and the minimum age that child can be
expected to do true zazen as opposed to just sitting still is probably
between 8 and 10 years old. Parents must understand that there will be
some level of noise and distraction from the wee ones, but that is okay
for Family Night. Here’s the schedule we will begin with:
7:30 - 7:32 Opening Chants
7:32 - 7:44 Zazen, with children being escorted in the small room at
pre-arranged intervals
7:44 - 7:47 Walking Meditation
7:47 - 7:52 Dharma talk (very basic and dumbed down/kid-friendly)
7:52 - 8:04 Zazen, with children being escorted in the small room at
pre-arranged intervals
8:05 - 8:10 Closing Chants
8:11 Evening Gatha by Ino
